
RALEIGH, NC – One driver was killed and another injured when their vehicles collided in Raleigh last week, according to WRAL.
Authorities responded to the scene on Interstate 40 east on April 23 at about 10:40 p.m. An investigation indicated that the driver of a 2018 Toyota Avalon was traveling at high speed and crashed into the back of a 2016 Jeep Renegade near the exit for Rock Quarry Road. The impact sent both vehicles into the shoulder of the road, The Jeep collided with a guardrail while the Toyota crashed into a tree.
The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jeep driver sustained minor injuries.
Lanes were closed on I-40 for several hours while police and emergency crews responded. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
