Man killed in Wake County motorcycle accident involving hit-and-run driver

WAKE COUNTY, NC – A motorcyclist died after a collision in Wake County that authorities labelled as a hit-and-run incident, WRAL reports.

The incident took place Tuesday morning in the area of Turnipseed Road and Old Medlin Farm Road at about 11:15 a.m.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, it began when a driver honked their horn at three motorcyclists on Turnipseed Road, then passed them, slammed their brakes and drove off.   One of the motorcyclists, identified as 53-year-old Jay Whitley Guido of Zebulon, was riding slowly because another rider was having mechanical issues.

When Guido drove ahead to get the vehicle’s registration plate, the driver stopped abruptly, causing Guido to lay down his bike. He died of his injuries after being transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, described as a white, newer-model Subaru, left the scene after the crash.  The driver was described as a woman with blonde, shoulder-length hair and approximately 40 years old.

Anyone with further information on the suspect or the vehicle involved was asked to contact the NCSHP’s Wake County office.
