
WAKE COUNTY, NC – Authorities said two Raleigh men are facing charges in connection with a May 11 high-speed crash that injured a Wake County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
According to CBS17, Adrian Josiah Williams and Britton Deon Thomas, both 18, were arrested and charged with prearranged speed competition, felony resisting a public officer, and felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. Thomas is also charged with felony aiding and abetting. Authorities said the two arranged a speed competition and were racing down Interstate 40, with Williams driving a Chevrolet Camaro at speeds of up to 111 miles an hour.
The sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop and pursued the vehicle to the area of I-40 east and NC 540, where the deputy’s vehicle veered off the road and crashed at about 3 a.m. Williams did not stop, investigators said.
The deputy is now recovering from her injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
