2 injured after vehicle crashes down embankment at intersection in Vass

VASS, NC – Two people were transported to area hospitals following a single-vehicle wreck in Vass on Monday morning.

According to a Facebook post by Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue at 9:36 a.m., a vehicle went down an embankment in the area of Vass-Carthage Road and Dogwood Avenue and crashed into a tree.   One person was trapped in the vehicle and another was pinned.

The person who was pinned was extricated and taken to a helicopter landing zone, and then flown to a trauma center.   The second person was removed and transported to First Health for treatment.  No details were released on the conditions of the injured victims.

Southern Pines Fire/Rescue was dispatched as a second rescue unit, and Whispering Pines Fire/Rescue managed the landing zone. Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol also responded.
