FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Two people were killed and five others injured in a two-vehicle collision in south Fayetteville early Thursday morning, reports CBS17.
The fatal wreck occurred on Camden Road near Oakland Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver of an Audi went over the median, struck a sign and then collided with an SUV, causing the Audi to go up in flames and the SUV to overturn.
A female passenger in the Audi and a woman in the SUV suffered fatal injuries, while the Audi driver and four other people in the SUV were injured and taken to an area hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though state troopers say initial indications are that speed was a contributing factor.
