WAKE FOREST, NC – A wrong-way driver was involved in a fatal accident in Wake Forest late Tuesday night, according to a release from the Town of Wake Forest.
Police were called to the scene along Capital Boulevard/US 1 in the vicinity of Star Road after the three-vehicle wreck happened at about 11:15 p.m. A preliminary investigation determined that a driver was traveling southbound along a northbound lane of Capital Boulevard/US 1 when his vehicle collided with the other two vehicles.
Officers found one female dead at the scene, while three other people were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Charges are pending against the wrong-way driver.
All lanes along northbound Capital Boulevard/US 1 at Star Road were closed for several hours while Wake Forest police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted their investigation.
