CLAYTON, NC – Emergency crews responded to two separate accidents at an intersection outside of Clayton late Monday night, WRAL reports.
Authorities said the first collision occurred after a driver failed to yield in the area of Big Pine Road and Barber Mill Road. Then, a driver who did not see the initial incident on the dark road became involved in another crash.
The report said several people, including two children, were transported to WakeMed to be treated for undisclosed injuries. Charges were pending for the drivers, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
The area was shut down while the accidents were being cleared, reopening shortly before midnight.
