Man facing charges in Fayetteville hit-and-run that killed pedestrian

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Police announced that charges have been filed in connection with a crash that caused the death of a pedestrian in Fayetteville earlier this month, WRAL reported.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle April 12 at about 8:45 p.m. in the area of North Reilly Road and Telfair Drive.  The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.    The driver involved left the scene headed south on North Reilly Road.

Over two weeks later, Fayetteville detectives acting on a tip located a 2021 Kia Forte with damage consistent with the collision at a home in the Loch Lomond neighborhood.

Police said 35-year-old Jamal Holliday of Fayetteville was subsequently arrested on charges of felony hit-and-run and driving with a revoked license.   He was booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center and held on a $35,000 secured bond.
