Chip Younce is Ordained as a Bishop

On July 7, senior partner Chip Younce was ordained as the Bishop of the Cary Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to preside over a very active congregation of 433 members. He will serve in the position for about five years and, like almost all clergy in his church, will be unpaid. When asked why he would take a job that required an average of 25 hours per week to add to his law practice and family responsibilities, Chip replied, “This is not the kind of job you campaign for, or apply for, or even volunteer for. When the call comes, you accept it with full heart because it’s part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. If I’m going to call myself a Christian, I have to accept the call regardless of whether it’s inconvenient or hard. I’ve only been doing it for a month and a half now, but next to being a husband and father and grandfather, it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.”
