Attorney Joseph Baznik of Younce, Vtipil, Baznik & Banks explains the fees associated with a workers' compensation case in North Carolina. For more information, visit https://www.attorneync.com/workers-compensation-attorney/attorney-fee-schedule-nc/.
When deciding to hire an attorney to handle a workers compensation claim, a common question is “How am I supposed to pay my attorney?” At Younce, Vtipil & Baznik, we don’t get paid unless we get money for you, we’re successful in winning or defending a benefit you’re entitled to, or we have spent a significant amount of time in your case.
We are not paid by the hour like most attorneys are. Our fee is 25% of the total compensation we are successful in winning on your behalf. We may get 25% of future compensation you receive depending on the amount of time we have spent on your case, or if we have to successfully fight to protect a benefit the law gives you.
There are some firms that automatically start taking 25% of their client’s benefits the moment they sign the client up, even though they have not done anything to support that fee. We don’t believe that’s fair, and that is not our policy. At Younce, Vtipil & Baznik, EVERY attorney fee MUST be earned.
Our attorney fee arrangement is set up to allow you access to the legal system so you have someone who knows what they’re doing in your corner protecting your rights during your most difficult time.
Worrying how to pay for a lawyer to protect you when you may not have a pay check coming in should not be a worry you have.
